Why are you thankful to Hillary Clinton?
I just got an email from ONE.org, an organization dedicated to iradicating poverty, that Barack Obama has chosen Joseph Biden to be his running mate. So much for the text message I signed up with to get the news first.
From the email:
The news today is going to be all about Senator Joe Biden, Barack Obama’s choice for Vice President. You can make this political moment a poverty-fighting moment by talking to Joe Biden right now, before he gets swept-up in a blur of coast-to-coast campaigning and the crush of endless media attention
We knew it wouldn’t be Hillary Clinton. And the other potential running mates were white men. Not that it matters, except to naggingly remind us, that yes, the fact that Hillary was that close to the nomination was a big deal, but it was groundbreaking because she is a woman.
Maureen Dowd goes off on Hillary in her NY Times opinion column placing her in cahoots with McCain to get the presidency in four years. What a sucker Hillary would be taken for if she is sold by that offer. But where does this imagination come from for Ms. Dowd?
…McCain laughs. “…Seriously, Hill, that Paris-Britney ad you came up with was brilliant” >>more
I can’t help but appreciate her ability to write so well so creatively so fast. For that alone, I read her column. Her audacity trumps my empathetic embarrassment I feel when she is harsh and inappropriately rude to people.
